| Customer Reviews: Inspired concept, but a little clunky January 24, 2010 E. M. Van Court (Honolulu, Hawai'i, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Five stars for a neat idea, but three for ergonomics. The design goal was to fit as many tools into a four inch space as possible. The very first prototype was designed by an audio system installer and started with a pair of pliers cut down and a crescent wrench brazed to one handle and a 1/4" hex socket to the other (for screwdriver bits). This is several generations past that first concept, with a knife blade and a diamond dust file added into the mix.
I like that you can seperate the handles and use a screwdrive and the crescent wrench at the same time. Generally, I like the assortment of tools, and the knife blade is the best I've seen on a multitool. But the whole package is a little on the bulky side, especially compared to a Leatherman New Wave Multitool, some of bits and pieces are a little tricky to use until you've had some practice, and as good as the knife blade is, it is a little clumsy to use because of the bulk of the rest of the tool.
I can see this being a good fit for some people's needs, and the concept is awesome, but I'll be sticking with a Leatherman, a Crescent 6-Inch Adjustable Wrench, and a Vise-Grip 5 in. Locking Pliers with Wire Cutter for the moment. I'm torn though, as this is such a well thought out set of tools in a small package.

cool gadget January 11, 2010 emi (New Jersey) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this as a holiday gift for my boyfriend- he is a spyderco fan and owns many of their knives. He is thrilled with the SpydeRench so far, and has used it for a few small projects around the house and in the car.
It's obviously not for huge projects, but it is a handy multitool and a great conversation piece.

This guy is cute, the blade is crazy sharp, pliars have huge lips and small jaws. the cresant wrench tops out at 9/16. The bit pit though small is able to play with other bit sets. Will not travel on airplanes. too sharp. I love it . is not a direct replacement for leatherman pro.
